Zemado is a popular folk dance of
Goa. It is performed mainly by the women of Dhangar and
Kunbi communities.
Zemado dance involves a group of women dancers, who depict the various postures of the cattle used in the farms. The dance is noted for its interesting footwork, gestures and sounds.
According to a popular myth, this dance was developed by the women working in the farms. In a bid to break the monotony of the laborious work, this interesting dance came into being.
