Yellapur in
Uttara Kannada District is located in the upper ghat region. Previously known as Yeshapura, the town was inhabited and ruled by Jains for sometime. Yellapur is around 80 km north-east of
Ankola.
Yellapur forms a forest division of the district. Situated near Yellapur are the scenic waterfalls such as Lalguli Falls (15 km), Sathodi Falls (32 km) and Magod Falls (17 km). Kalmath Temple is about 3 km from Yellapur.
Karwar Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
National Highway 63 passes through Yellapur.
