Yasna is a prayer of the
Parsis, the followers of
Zoroastrianism. It is contained in the
Avesta, the holy book of the religion. It is one of the longest prayers in the religious text.
The Yasna was composed many centuries after the death of Prophet Zoroaster. But it complements his teachings very well. The language implemented in this prayer belongs to the ancient times. The verses are not meant to be sung, but recited. The verses are narrated during a special ritual invoking the fire god.
Some of the Gathas (religious songs) are included in the Yasna.
