Yara, a scenic village, is situated 13 km from
Nayagraon in
Chamba District. It lies at an altitude of about 3,433 m, on the
Baijnath - Jalsu Pass trek route in Chamba Valley. Because of its magnificent landscape of mountains and forests, Yara is also called second Switzerland. The entire region provides panoramic views of the
Manimahesh range. The
River Ravi flows nearby.
Dhauladhar, Chamba, Bharmour, Dharamsala, Bir, Indrahar Pass and Holi are the nearby tourist destinations. Yara is one of the base camps for Manimahesh Yatra. It is an ideal spot for trekking and mountaineering. Base camps are available.
