Wangala

Wangala, also known as the 'Dance of Hundred Drums', is an important festival of Garo tribe in Meghalaya. It falls in November and lasts for two days.

Wangala is celebrated in honor of Satyong - the God of fertility. It marks the end of the period of hard work and toil and signifies the onset of winter. During the festival, both young and old, dressed up in colorful dance, dance to the accompaniment of long cylindrical drums.
