Vizhidiur is a small hamlet with historical and archeological importance. It is 9 km east of
Karaikal, in
Karaikal District.
The major landmarks are Sri Vizhinadhaswamy temple and Sri Varadaraja Perumal temple. Both these temples belong to the Chola period.
Sri Vizhinadhaswamy is devoted to Vizhiandhaswamy, which is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva, and Vimalambigai, his consort. Sri Varadaraja Perumal is noted for its stone carvings.
