Vivekanandhaa Institute of Ophthalmology and Research Hospital is one of the full-fledged eye hospitals in
Tamil Nadu. Recognized by the Government of India and affiliated to the
Periyar University, it conducts Diploma in Ophthalmic Technician course of one year duration.
For getting adequate clinical experience for students a 200 bed charitable super specialty eye hospital is attached to the research center. The hospital offers specialized services in anti-glaucoma surgeries, direct and indirect ophthalmoscopic fundus examination, laser treatment for retinal disorders, cataract surgery with IOL implantation, and squint correction surgeries. With the support of District Blindness Control Society, the hospital conducts free eye camps, vision screening program for drivers, vision screening program for school children, diabetic retinopathy screening, and glaucoma screening.
