Visweswara Temple




Visweswara Temple is situated at Kuzhalmannam, about 12 km from Palakkad. Dedicated to LordShiva, the temple also has deities of Lord Ganesh and Lord Muruga. Lord Shiva is worshipped here in the form of a shivlinga. Beneath the linga, there is a three tiered Peetha which represents the three gunas - Satwa, Rajas and Tamas. Near the main deity is the shrine of Visalakshi, the goddess with long eyes of grace and kindness, facing south.

Dhara, pushpanjali, swayamvara archana, manjal kappu and nakshatra archana are the main offerings. Shivratri, Annabhishekam, Thiruvathira and Navratri are the important festivals celebrated.

The nearest airport is at Coimbatore (55 km). Palakkad Town Railway Station and Palakkad Junction Railway Station are the nearest railheads.
