The ancient Vishnu Temple at Buniyar is a fine example of the exquisite stone-work, typifying the craftsmanship of early-Kashmiri architecture. Due to age and neglect, now the shrine is in a dilapidated state. Though dedicated to
Lord Vishnu originally, any representation of the presiding deity no longer exists in the shrine. Some representations of
Lord Shiva can be found in the sanctuary. The temple is built on a double plinth with porches sided by pilasters. The roof is thought to have been gabled and two-tiered though nothing remains today. The enclosure is marked by a colonnade complete with pilasters and niches. A two-porched gateway still remains on the eastern side.
