Viracholan




Viracholan is a scenic village on the banks of the Viracholan river, a tributary of the Cauvery. Located in the eastern region of Virudhunagar District, this village is around 60 km from Virudhunagar and 45 km south of Madurai. Narikkudi, Partibanur of Ramanathapuram District and Palaiyampatti are the nearby places.

Memorial house of Kamaraj, the 400-year-old Mariamman temple, Sastha Falls and Vembakottai Reservoir are accessible from Virocholan.

The place can be reached from Tiruchuli, one of the 14 Shaiva centers in the state. Madurai Airport and Aruppukkottai Railway Station are the nearest airport and railhead.
