Kerala Village Fair is a ten day event held in January at
Kovalam, Thiruvanathapuram. It is conducted to promote folk dances, music, and festivities of
Kerala and thereby provide the visitors a glimpse of Kerala's rich past and traditions. A typical Kerala village known as 'gramam' is created, with the traditional house Nalukettu, where dance, art, and martial art of Kerala are performed.
Kathakali,
Mohiniyattom, Kalaripayattu, Oppana, and Pavakkoothu are among the art forms performed at the venue. The event also displays rare antiques including jewelry boxes, paintings, swords and shields, musical instruments, and household utensils which are reminiscent of the bygone era.
