Veerattagasam Temple




Veerattagasam is an ancient temple, located at the place where the Apparao Mudaliar Street joins the road to Enathur, in Kanchipuram. The main deity of the temple is Veerattagaseshwarar. This temple got its name from Veerattagasam, the holy laugh of Lord Shiva.

Belief is that, the Siddhas (class of celestials), Sage Konkanavar and Lord Vishnu had worshipped Lord Shiva at this temple. The temple houses the idols of Lord Ganesh, Nandi and Sakkiya Nayanar, a devotee of Lord Shiva. There are four other idols of Lord Shiva in the temple.

The nearest airport is the Chennai International Airport and the Arakkonam Railway Station is the nearest railway station.
