Varman Sun Temple, one among the famous sun temples of India, is situated at Varman village in
Sirohi District of
Rajasthan. The architecture of the temple confirms that it belongs to the late 9th century.
The temple has a sanctum (the image of Surya is carved on it), a porch, vestibule and ambulatory with three transepts. There are tetragonal pillars in the interior of the temple, which are decorated in the upper half with scrolls, kirttimukhas and makara heads in circular marks. It is also adorned with floral frieze and capital, supporting either double roll or Atlantean brackets.
