Varaha Purana, one among the 18
Puranas, narrates the story of
Varaha, the third incarnation of
Lord Vishnu. It has about 14,000 verses.
Apart from the Varaha tale, it contains stories about Vishnu and host of other tales and dialogues between sages. It deals at length about sorrow and happiness, different types of crime, sin and penance and rituals. A whole lot of philosophical queries and its answers are dealt in detail. Description of Yama and his world is also illustrated. Like the rest of the Puranas, several holy places in India find a mention, along with their importance.
