Valmiki Tirath (ashram) is located in
Amritsar. This
ashram is mentioned in the great epic
Ramayana. Sita is said to have stayed here when
Ram deserted her. It is the historic birthplace of
Lava and Kusha. There are a number of statues in the ashram illustrating scenes from the
Ramayana. A large sacred tank in the premises is said to have been dug by
Hanuman. A grand festival is celebrated here yearly in November.
