Valanjamkanam is a picnic spot located between
Kuttikkanam and Murinjapuzha on the
Kottayam -
Kumily route in
Idukki District,
Kerala. This place is famous for the Kesari waterfalls, popularly known as Foogy Falls.
The specialty here is the stunning cataract which is completely covered by fog. Once the fog clears then it is a virtual dreamscape. Breathtaking views of the three ancient royal palaces of the Maharaja of Travancore can be seen. Thrissanku and Peeru hills are two nearby hill stations.
Valanjamkanam can be reached from Kottayam in about three hours by bus, enroute Kumily. For trekking enthusiasts, a trek to Kuttikanam (about 4 km) through the mountainous rock in the forest green is a great experience.
