Vaitha Vatur Truvah is an important festival celebrated throughout
Jammu and Kashmir.
On this occasion, the people of Kashmir offer prayers to the Jhelum River, lit earthen lamps and set them afloat on the river. The river lit with thousands of lamp is a beautiful and heart touching sight.
The festival is held at an ancient temple at Verinag, the source of the Jhelum. Both Hindus and Muslims take part in this festival.
