Vaastu Shastra is the ancient Indian science of structures and architecture. Vaastu Shastra finds its origin in the Stapatya Veda, a part of the
Atharva Veda, one of the four main tenets of ancient India. According to Vaastu, the whole world, including the human body, is made from five essential elements, i.e., earth, water, fire, air and sky. Vaastu mainly balances these five elements in their proper order and proportions so that we can have better living conditions. In Vaastu, east and north hold special positions, because east is the place from where the sun rises and north is perhaps the roof of the world.
