Urguelling Monastery is located 5 km south of
Tawang. It was constructed by Urgen Sangpo, the youngest brother of Terton Pempalingpa, the well known treasure-revealer.
This monastery was attacked by the Mongols during the dawn of 18th century. The valuable items including statues and scriptures written in gold and silver were taken to Tawang Monastery, where they are kept safe to this day.
