Uppina Kudru is an island located north of
Kundapura in
Udupi District of
Karnataka. In ancient times the villagers of this area mainly depended on salt production for their livelihood and as a result the island got its name Uppina Kudru.
The island is home to many old temples. The village is also famous for Yakshagana puppetry, another form of Yakshagana where puppets are used to tell the story. Fishing is the main activity of this island village.
