The town of Umar is situated in
Bundi District of
Rajasthan. The district headquarters,
Bundi is around 60 km south-east.
Tikar is the nearest town, 5 km to the north. Lohari, 6 km to the west; Huwaliya, 7 km to the east; and Tunkra, 9 km to the south are some of the other nearby towns.
Bundi has large reserve of Barytes, a form of Barium Sulphate. Umar is also an important area in Rajasthan with regard to marble deposits.
Dugari Fort, Phool Sagar Palace, Nawal Sagar Lake, Sukh Mahal, Shikar Burj and Sar Bagh are the major tourist attractions.
Bundi Railway Station and Kota Airport (70 km) are the nearest railhead and airport respectively. National Highway 12 passes a few kilometer west of Umar.
