Tushita Meditation Center was established in 1973 for facilitating the study and practice of
Buddhism in the Tibetan Mahayana tradition, in India. It is situated in the forested hills above McLeod Ganj - the seat in exile of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, in
Dharamsala,
Himachal Pradesh.
Tushita organizes regular introductory courses on Buddhist philosophy and meditation. Retreats and advanced courses are conducted for experienced students. For experienced meditators retreat rooms and huts are provided. The center houses a library which contains about 3,000 books covering a wide range of subjects, including Buddhist philosophy, Mahayana prayer books, Tibetan culture and politics, Indian culture and texts relating Buddhism with science, the environment, psychology and sociology.
The center offers accommodation facilities for people who are doing retreat or attending a course.
