Triputhari is a harvest festival celebrated at
Sree Subrahmanya Swami TemplePayyanur,
Kerala. During this festival, the newly harvested rice is cooked and offered to the
Lord Subramanya - the presiding deity.
Triputhari is a good example of communal harmony and co-existence. The sugar used for the payasam is brought by a Muslim family of Payyanur. On the particular day of the festival, a member of that family brings the sugar in a brand new pot to the temple. He will be given rice, coconut and bananas as a compliment from the temple.
