Tonyamel is an important dance form of
Goa. A traditional dance form with sticks, it celebrates the joys of a good harvest. The name Tonyamel is derived from two words, 'Toni' (meaning a painted stick) and 'Mel (meaning a dancing group). The dance starts with a slow footwork, which gradually accelerates as the dance proceeds.
