Tongo, one of the rock shelter painting sites, is situated near Giripur in
Sundargarh District. Facing to the south, this rock shelter has 190 specimens of engravings randomly done.
These engravings include some triangular shapes, palm and foot prints, rhombic and honeycomb patterns, serpentine and a host of forms resembling Roman character. All these engravings were originally filled in with a paste of ochre in their grooves.
