Tomb of Zia-Ud-Din Bukhari is located at
Kanihama in
Badgam District of
Jammu and Kashmir. Kanihama is 15 km west of
Srinagar.
Legend says that Hazrat Zia-ud-din Bukhari reached Kashmir Valley from Bukhara about three centuries ago, with 360 Syeds. He performed many miracles one of whom is very famous. It is said that he asked one blind girl to fetch some fire for his kangri (an earthenware firepot) and she expressed her inability to do the required. The saint touched her eyes with his hand and the girl's eyesight was restored.
An Urs held on the 26th of Rajab, the 7th month in the Islamic lunar calendar, is a major draw. During the occasion, a large number of people from far and near gather here to pay respect to the saint.
