Shiva Temple is situated at Tiruvottiyur, about 8 km south of
Chennai, in
Tamil Nadu. The presiding deity here is
Lord Shiva. The temple campus houses the ‘Panchabhootha Sthala’ lingas, such as, Aakasalinga, Tejolinga and Jalalinga.
The wall of the temple is adorned with a beautiful figure of Ekapadeswar, an odd representation of Lord Shiva. The temple has a Sahasralinga -a tall, huge, black, granite Shivling.
The images of the famous saints including Pattinathar - a reputed Tamil ascetic-poet, and Appar are installed in the niches. There is also a samadhi for Pattinathar.
Chennai Central Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
