Tiruvenkatam Temple is a renowned shrine located at
Guruvayoor, 30 km west of
Thrissur. Dedicated to Venkatachalapathy, this temple is popularly known as Tiruvenkatam of Tirupati.p>
Some devotees consider this temple as a Devi temple because of the idol of Bhagavati. This deity is seated at the south-eastern corner of the
chuttambalam. Main attraction is the beautiful image of Lord Venkatachalapathy, situated facing the east and just opposite of the image of Bhagavati. Tradition says that Tiruvenkatam Temple was damaged by
Tipu Sultan. The famous
Guruvayoorappan Temple is in the vicinity. Parthasarathi Temple and Punnathur Fort are other attractions.
