Tiruvaadaanai Temple




Tiruvaadaanai Temple is located at Tiruvaadanai, Ramanathapuram District. The principal deity is Lord Ganesh (Vinayaka). The temple has a huge gopuram which depict the different stories of Hindu mythology. These inscriptions are done in oil paint. The temple also has shrines of Adi Ratneswara and his consort Snehavalli. Legend has it that Shankaracharya sang in praise of the red stone Vinayaka. The main festivals are Vinayaka Chaturthi and Maha Shivratri. The nearest railhead is at Devakottai, 26 miles away. Frequent busses are also available from Devakottai and Madurai.
