Tibetan Temple is a beautiful Buddhist shrine located at Sarnath in
Varanasi District of
Uttar Pradesh. Sarnath is about 10 km from
Varanasi.
This traditional style temple enshrines the beautiful statue of Shakyamuni (Buddha). It is decorated with Thangkas (Tibetan Buddhist paintings) and frescoes. Prayer wheels, which are seen outside the temple building, usually contain paper scrolls with prayers or mantras written on them. When the prayer wheels are rotated clockwise, the papers are released.
