Thonnykavu Festival is a major occasion celebrated at the Bhagawathi Temple in North Parur, near
Aluva town in
Ernakulam District. This eight day long festival bears a unique status. A colorful procession of elephants and the spectacular fold rituals, the
Patayani and
Mudiyettu, are part of this festival. A classical music concert is also organized.
Parur is about 40 km north of Ernakulam. Aluva Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
