Thiruvegappura Sankaranarayana Temple




Thiruvegappura Sankaranarayana Temple, built around the 14th century, is located at Thiruvegappura in Palakkad District of Kerala. It is on the banks of the Thutha River, a branch of the Bharathapuzha.

This ancient temple is dedicated to Sankaranarayana, a unique combination constituted on one half by Lord Shiva and by Lord Vishnu on the other. There is a koothambalam, which dates back to the 15th or 16th century. The temple is noted for its historical wall scriptures.

The temple is easily accessible from Valanchery, which is 10 km away.
