Thirunakkara Utsav




Thirunakkara Mahadeva Temple in Kottayam celebrates three festivals annually. Among these, Arattu Utsav (also called Phalguna Utsav) is held amid much pomp and splendor. This 10-day long festival commences from the 1st of Meenam (March-April). Other two are held during Thulam (October-November) and Mithunam (June-July).

The Utsav is attended by thousands of people, irrespective of caste or creed. Cultural programs and variety of entertainments are staged on this occasion. A big fair is also held in connection with the festival. Many kinds of industrial and agricultural products are exhibited and sold in the fair.
