Thirumarugal is located in
Nagapattinam District of
Tamil Nadu. It is a sacred spot on the way to
Nagore from
Nannilam and is about 10 km from Nannilam.
Thirumarugal derived its name from a plantain named Marugal found inside the ancient Rathnagiriswarar temple. The specialty of the plantain, on the northern side of the temple, is that it will not grow anywhere else if its branch is cut and planted. The place is also called ‘Kadalivana Kshethram’ in Sanskrit.
Tiruchirapalli Airport is the nearest airport. Nannilam Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
