Thirthahalli Stone Temple

Thirthahalli Stone Temple is situated on the middle of Davanebail forest at Thirthahalli in Shimoga District. This temple, built in Hoysala style of architecture, stands as an example of superior skills possessed by ancient and medieval architects. The main feature of the temple is that it has no presiding deity. Visitors can only see a shivling within the temple complex.

The temple has 30 pillars at which one of them is hollow, indicating the appearance of the snake god, who chased away those who entered the temple in search of a missing treasure.
