Thenari is a natural spring in front of the old Shri Ram Temple in
Palakkad. The water is as pure and sacred as the holy
river Ganges. Tradition recounts that on exile,
Lord Ram and
Sita were at this place. Sita felt thirsty with no water nearby; seeing this Ram shot an arrow into the ground, from where a spring rose to quench Sita's thirst.
