The Tribes, located in the heart of the city of
New Delhi, on Mahadev Road, is a one stop destination for an extensive choice of tribal handicraft items. It was started in 1999 and runs under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The main objectives of The Tribes are, economically empowering the tribals and finding a market for the stuff made by the tribes of India. The shop is housed in a vacant bungalow amidst well-maintained lush lawns.
The shop has an elaborate selection of over 2000 items and the products are classified under different sections for the convenience of the visitors. Exhibitions are conducted between the months of October and February on its back lawn, that gives opportunities for the artisans to display and demonstrate their products.
