Archery is one of the prominent and most popular indigenous sports of
Meghalaya. It is an integral part of the culture of the local people, and plays a principal role in their festivals. The bows are of varying lengths and sizes and made of a special bamboo. The arrows are topped with a pointed metal cap.
The target is nailed on a thin bamboo pole, at a height of 3 1/2 ft from the ground. The distance between the archer and the target exceeds 30 meters.
