Constructed in 18th century, the Convent and the Church of St John of God is located in Old Goa 9 km east of
Panaji in
North Goa District. It was abandoned in 1835 and the tower of St Augustine is to the east of the convent.
Since 1844, it has been used as a residence for chaplains, confessors and others employed on behalf of the nuns of St Monica. In 1850 the roof of the church was removed and a new roof was constructed later.
