Thandai is a popular milk-based drink in north India which is prepared during the festivals of
Holi and
Shivaratri. This drink, unique to
Varanasi, is assumed to be the
prasad of Lord
Shiva. It is made by mixing together khus khus (poppy seeds), a few crushed almonds and rose petals, adding some water and sugar to them and blending them together. This cool and refreshing drink is a great thirst quencher on a hot summer day.
