Thalapureeshwarar Temple, a sacred Shivasthalam, is located in
Kanchipuram, about 10 km from the southern banks of the
Palar River. The principal deity of the temple is
lord Shiva as Thalapureeshwarar or Panangattunathar with the goddess Thalapuri Nayagi.
Sage Agastya and his disciple Pulathiyar are worshipped in the temple. Belief is that, Thalapureeshwarar possesses the power of restoring the eye-sight of those who have lost it. The temple is also famous for the Sundara Teertham.
