Te-bam (Acacia Pruinescens Kurz) is a large woody climbing herb distributed in
Manipur.
The plant is reported to be an emetic and expectorant. It is prescribed as a remedy for bronchitis, pneumonia and asthma. Cyanogenetic glucoside and alkaloid acalyphine are isolated from the plant. Leaves (laxative in nature) are used in the treatment of scabies and snakebites. Juice of the leaves is useful in case of croup. The root shows cathartic property.
