Tarang or Kaisumei is one of the two significant feasts of merit performed by the Zeliangrong Tribe of
Manipur. After performing the
Banruhmei, the host can do the Tarang, only if he can afford it. For this ritual a special house of merit called Tarang-kai is constructed. If a man performs both the Tarang and Banruhmei feasts during his life time, it is believed that he has achieved his life’s work.
