Tansen's Baradari, a red sand stone building, is located south-west of the ridge in
Fatehpur Sikri. It is believed that
Tansen, the famous musician of
Akbar’s court, along with his family lived here. It has 12 doorways and hence the name Baradari, which means 'twelve doors'.
The single-storeyed building is rectangular in shape and has a single oblong hall in the center. The central room is simple in architecture and is decorated with beautiful inlay work of marble and sandstone in the exterior.
