Located in
Chennai, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) is an autonomous institution governed by its Board of Management.
It offers two under graduate (B V Sc and B F Sc), 29 post graduate (22 M V Sc /7 M F Sc) and 22 doctoral degree programs. Besides, it conducts distance education programs in goat farming and dairy farming.
TANUVAS serves the needs of the farming community through its constituent center and colleges, which include Veterinary University Training and Research Centers, Farmers Training Centers, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and Agricultural Technology Information Center.
These centers train unemployed youths, provide advisory services and practice farmers towards establishing livestock and fisheries enterprise.
The university has established hospitals, libraries, laboratories and computer centers to serve the academic and farming communities.
