The T D Medical College is situated at Vandanam, 9 km south of the
Alappuzha town, on
National Highway 47. The college was established in 1963 under the patronage of the T D Temple at Anantha Narayana Puram, Alappuzha. The college is managed by the T D Medical College Administrative Council. The college offers MBBS courses, diploma courses, and post graduate courses. Auditorium, lecture halls and audio-visual aids, library, and an institute of virology and infectious diseases work under the medical college. The Filariasis Chemotherapy Unit was established to undertake research work in Periodic Brugian filariasis.
T D Medical College Hospital is used to train both under graduate and post graduate students and house surgeons. It is headed by a medical superintendent. Internal medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, anesthesiology, and accident and emergency services are the departments functioning in the hospital. Critical care facilities are available in internal medicine, neurosurgery, neonatology, and trauma care. Medical records library, incinerator, district medibank, consumer co-operative society, and canteen are also available.
