Swarna Jyoti Museum

Swarna Jyoti Museum is housed in the ENC complex in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Established in 1989, the museum aims to provide a perspective of the eastern seaboard's maritime history, growth of the Navy from pre-independence days and the naval heritage.

Swarna Jyoti Museum has five sections - maritime history, eastern seaboard IN establishments and ports, ocean resources, naval archives and Aquaria. The museum exhibits archaeological artifacts from the sites of Lothal, Harappa and other relevant Indus sites. A well-crafted scale model of Chennaiharbor is an eye- catching exhibit.

The mezzanine floor is the most interesting part in the museum which treasures booming guns, swishing swords, shells, a fully dressed medieval Maratha soldier and the swords and bayonets of World War II.

Situated adjacent to Swarna Jyoti Museum is the 'Smritika' which reminisces the silent arm of the Indian Navy, the submarine museum.

Visakhapatnam Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
