Swami Swaroopanand Ashram is situated at Pawas in Bhatye of
Ratnagiri District. The
ashram, situated about 20 km away from
Ratnagiri town, is famous for its pious and tranquil ambience. It was the abode of Swami Swaroopanandji, a spiritual leader who stayed here for a period of 40 years and influenced an entire generation of Maharashtrians. Swamiji’s
samadhi on the Avala tree and the house 'Anant Niwas' where Swami Swaroopananda stayed are also worth visiting.
The state transport buses ply from Mumbai, Kolhapur and Pune to Ratnagiri and also from Ratnagiri to Pawas via Bhyte. The nearest railway station is at Ratnagiri (6 km) on Konkan railway and the closest airport is Mumbai.
