Surapur is a village in
Nawan Shehar District of
Punjab. It is on the Mukandpur-Faghwara road, about 8 km from
Nawan Shehar and 10 km from
Garhshankar. This village was named after Sura Singh, an old man who founded it around 350 years ago.
Today, Surapur is a developed area. There are two gurdwaras in the village. Other landmarks in the vicinity include one elementary and one government high school, a rural dispensary, a co-operative milk society, a co-operative agriculture society, a modern library, a mini post office and a food grain market.
The nearest railway station is at Banga (5 km). Amritsar International airport serves this area.
