Surankote is a small village, situated on the banks of
Suran River, in
Poonch District of
Jammu and Kashmir. It was formerly known as Sawernik. A big fort called the Kote, built in the year 1036, changed to its present name of Surankote.
Surankote has a charming valley enclosed by the snow clad peaks and is popularly called 'Pahalgam of Poonch'. Noori Chanb Waterfall is a major attraction here.
The major town close to the village is Poonch, located about 250 km north-west of Jammu.
